AI Feature Notice

The Times of My Life, run by CompanyWRX, LLC, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help you find, organize, and tell the stories in your family archive. This notice explains where AI runs, what it sees, and what it never does.
The short version
- Most AI runs on our own servers, not at an outside company.
- Paid AI features send only a small, relevant slice of information to outside AI providers.
- AI providers do not train on your information under their API terms.
- You can edit everything AI produces. People, not AI, are the source of truth.
- AI never guesses sensitive traits such as race, religion, or health.
AI that runs on our own servers
When you upload a memory, our own servers do some work right away, using open-source tools:
- Image embeddings made with an open-source CLIP model. An embedding is a list of numbers that describes what is in a photo, so you can search for "beach" or "birthday cake."
- Face detection with open-source models, which notes where faces appear in a photo. This is not the same as recognizing who someone is. Recognition is off unless it has been turned on — see our Facial Recognition & Biometric Notice.
- Text embeddings of your written memories and captions, so search understands meaning, not just exact words.
None of this is sent to an outside AI company.
Paid AI features that use outside providers
These features are part of Premium Family or a Family Day Pass, or are purchased separately (such as a slideshow):
- Asking questions of your archive
- Drafting stories
- Choosing photos for a slideshow
- Writing event recaps
- Short photo descriptions (Premium)
To do this work, we send a small relevant subset of metadata (such as dates, captions, and names you have added) and at most a few small thumbnails to an outside AI model provider. We do not send your whole archive, and we do not send original full-size files for these features.
Audio transcription is different: to turn a recording into text, the audio of that recording is sent to OpenAI for transcription.
Our AI providers
- Anthropic — our primary provider.
- OpenAI — backup provider, and audio transcription.
- Google — possible in the future. We will update this notice before using it.
These providers process information under their API terms, which state that API inputs are not used to train their models by default.
What we keep
We keep an AI usage ledger that records which feature was used, its cost, and token counts (a measure of how much text was processed). The ledger never stores the prompts or the content that was sent or returned. Any AI-written text you choose to save becomes part of your memories, under your control like everything else.
What AI never does
AI in The Times of My Life never tries to infer or label:
- Race or ethnicity
- Religion
- Health
- Emotion
- Political beliefs
- Other sensitive traits
We do not use AI to rank people, judge photos of people, or make decisions about you.
AI can be wrong
AI can mix up names, dates, places, and people, or describe something that is not there. Please check what it writes, especially in stories that will be passed down.
- You can edit or delete anything AI produces.
- What you and your family write always wins over what AI suggests.
Your choices
- You do not have to use paid AI features. The free core — viewing, downloading, and exporting — works without them.
- Search on our own servers is part of how the service works.
